Foundation
The Solón Foundation
is a unique organisation that combines art with
the fight for social justice and the dreams of
a more just world. Founded by the well-known Bolivian
muralist and artist, Walter Solón Romero
in 1994, the Foundation continues to use art,
culture and creativity to talk about key issues
that affect Bolivia. >More

Walter Solón Romero
was born in 1923 in Uyuni in the South of Bolivia
and from his first art exhibition in 1944 became
known for using art to talk about exploitation
and resistance of social movements in Bolivia.
His more than 2000 works tell a story of Bolivia
from the perspective of those who were fighting
for a fairer Bolivia. >More

The Foundation features a gallery
that is open to the public( 10-12.30am
and 3-7pm, Monday to Fridays) featuring
regular exhibitions of different themes and styles
of Walter Solón's work. It is an excellent
introduction to the history of Bolivia from the
perspective of those social movements who have
been active fighting for a more just Bolivia.
The gallery is being gradually converted into
a "house-museum" that will include interactive
exhibits, audiovisual work, workshops and an information/library
centre. >More
